The United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania is working with Allegheny, Greene, Washington, and Westmoreland counties to help individual schedule their free tax preparation appointments through virtual means. (Please see descriptions below).
When tax season begins on January 25th, you’ll get started here with virtual tax assistance, click on a link, and answer a few questions about your employment and income. Make sure to have the names, birthdates, and social security numbers of everyone included on the return.
Next, you’ll take a photo of each of the required documents and send them to an email address provided here. You’ll include any optional documents you have too.
A County IRS-certified preparer will contact you when they have prepared your return.
Choosing direct deposit will ensure you get access to your refund quickly. Have your checking account number and bank routing number handy to sign-up.
To find these programs go to http://pa211sw.org/search-services/ and then put in your demographics (Zip Code, Age and Gender), and then go to the bottom and click on Search Options Button. This will then show you the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Programs that are closest to you.
