When someone loses their job, has a large medical expense, an issue with their vehicle, or any other unexpected financial or life set-back, utility bills can fall behind. We all face difficult times in our lives – but that doesn’t mean we deserve to have our gas shut off.
Peoples Gas and PA 2-1-1 Southwest work together to refer people to services that can help them make their utility payments, so no one has to experience a night without heat, lights or water.
“At Peoples, we understand that sometimes it can be difficult to pay your gas bill – you have fallen on hard times or a huge life event has caused a minor set-back,” said Morgan O’Brien, president and CEO, Peoples. “We are here to help in any way we can.”
Peoples’ Customer Assistance Program (CAP) allows individuals to apply for an affordable pre-set monthly bill based on their household income and a plan to reduce their balance faster. Peoples helps its customers by referring them to a variety of services, including a budget service and a direct phone line to a member of their team who can offer support. Customers can find more information through Peoples’ ‘help me pay’ section on their website.
And of course, Peoples’ customers can always dial 2-1-1.
Just like Peoples, PA 2-1-1 Southwest is working hard to ensure everyone can meet their basic needs, including paying for monthly utilities. Many agencies that partner with 2-1-1 can offer assistance and connect callers with services to help them plan their finances and craft a budget.
Together, PA 2-1-1 Southwest and Peoples Gas are connecting community members in need with the services that are available to them, so they can remain safe and comfortable in their homes. Anyone could find themselves in a position where they are struggling to make ends meet, and everyone deserves a chance to find the best path forward.
